About

Kate Taylor

Writer. Researcher. Teacher.

I am a graduate of the English Literature at the University of Colorado, Boulder Master of Arts program. My research explores the intersection between the female body and mind and the natural world, especially in the late 19th and early 20th century. My work focuses on not only examining the ways in which women had or lacked agency but on the ways in which we might bring back into publication the “lost” works of the time. My research also examines the marginalized and lost voices of the literary world—including Indigenous cultures and texts.

I am a resolute educator who strives to improve the lives of students, scholars, and readers by working to create a dialogue around criticism and critical pedagogy

Growing up

Growing up in the high-altitude desert valley of the San Luis Valley of Colorado, I knew from a very early age that I wanted to go into education. Perhaps it was the influence of spending the majority of my childhood on the local university campus where my dad taught theatre or the numerous educators in my life that helped to cultivate my passion for education, but I knew that the place I always felt the most comfortable was the classroom.

During my childhood, I could be found outside searching for animals, climbing trees, or biking along the Rio Grande river. It wasn’t until high school that I found that the outdoors had restorative properties that helped me remain calm during the tumultuous years of teenagerhood.
